Case Study:

Kerala Tourism

The most outstanding case study in our portfolio would undoubtedly be that of Kerala Tourism. We’ve been passionately involved with this brand in more ways than one, catalyzing the growth of the brand from a non-entity 30 years ago to the most powerful tourism brand in India. Market research, strategy, creative strategy, multimedia campaigns, planning and launching the first ever public-private partnership in the tourism sector in India, building trade relationships, selecting, designing and managing trade fairs and roadshows, shortlisting and exploring new markets based on market trends…

This journey metamorphosed Kerala – it gave a new lease of life to the economy, it became the leading employer for skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled, it revived traditional art forms, it made the Keralite proud of his home town State and most importantly, this will hopefully make all the stakeholders realize the need to preserve the natural beauty of this destination. Needless to say, Kerala Tourism won countless awards – the National Tourism Award six times in a row for the Best Performing Tourism State in India; PATA Gold awards for various responsible initiatives as well as marketing; and Stark Communications won over two hundred awards for the creatives done for Kerala Tourism – including two dozen international awards.

Karnataka Tourism

Stark has been very actively involved in developing the Karnataka Tourism brand across the past 10 years, as the official branding and communications partner. We repositioned Karnataka with a comprehensive communications makeover including visual identity, content, advertising, PR and digital promotion. These initiatives won Karnataka Tourism the prestigious Government of India’s National Tourism Awards in various categories across eight years. Stark took Karnataka Tourism to the world through participation in world trade fairs such as ITB Berlin as well as marketing presentations/events in source markets ranging from Tokyo to New York. For the first time ever in Karnataka, the Department of Tourism brought the tourism trade together in a branded government-trade joint platform titled Connect. To attract and drive investments into Karnataka’s destinations, Stark organized India’s first-ever tourism investment meet, Momentum. We also promoted specific high-end products like The Golden Chariot, the luxury train, giving it a distinct brand identity backed by national and international promotional campaigns. Stark also rebranded the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) and helped the Corporation promote its properties and services largely through cost-effective online marketing. Today, Karnataka is one of India’s leading tourism destinations.

CGH Earth

After The Casino Group of Hotels with its chain of twelve unique resorts rebranded itself as CGH Earth, Stark played a key role in interpreting the philosophy of the brand and successfully extending this philosophy into communication that went out to responsible tourism trade across the world.
