    AccorHotels has appointed Arif Patel as Vice President Sales, Marketing and Distribution for the India region. An industry Sales and Marketing veteran, Arif brings to AccorHotels, over two decades of experience with leading brands that include ITC hotels and Oberoi hotels. Arif was most recently the Regional Director of Sales & Marketing, South Asia for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.
     
      David Lim,
    General Manager India, Singapore Airlines

    Singapore Airlines has appointed David Lim as the General Manager India, effective April 3, 2016. Lim, who will be taking over from David Lau, will be overseeing all India operations of Singapore Airlines. Lim began his career at Singapore Airlines in 1988, after graduation from the National University of Singapore. With over 27 years of experience with the company, Lim worked in various capacities within passenger and cargo service operations.
     
      Isra Stapanaseth,
    Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand, New Delhi

    Mr. Isra Stapanaseth takes over from Ms. Runjuan Tongrut ( who was appointed as Executive Director for East Asia Market, TAT Bangkok Office ). His term started from February1, 2016. His jurisdiction will cover North and East India as well as Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal. Mr Stapanaseth who was previously, the Director of TAT Chiang Rai office (North of Thailand) has been working with Tourism Authority of Thailand over 20 years now, since 1994.

    One Million Indian Tourists Visited Singapore In 2015
     
      Singapore, the island city-state welcomed more than 1 million Indian tourists last year, a growth of 7.4 per cent over 2014. STB Executive Director (South Asia, Middle East and Africa) Chee Pey Chang said, “India continued to remain in the top five markets in terms of visitor arrivals in 2015.”
    ‘Experiessential’ Packages From Kerala’s Travel Trade Consortium
     
      Association of Tourism Trade Organisations India (ATTOI), a consortium of travel and tourism stakeholders in Kerala, has launched a 9-day Experiential package – Navaratana ‘Experiessential’ Holidays. The package was launched by AP Anilkumar, Minister of Tourism, Kerala, at an event held in Thiruvananthapuram recently by handing over the first copy of the package brochure to reputed tour operator and travel writer from Sweden, Marianne Hard Af Stegarstad.
    INS Viraat To Be Developed As Tourism Centre
     
      Aircraft carrier INS Viraat will be developed as a tourism centre after its decommissioning following decades of service in the Navy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said. A joint venture will be set up by Andhra government, Indian Navy and a private organisation to take up the tourism-related activities on the warship, which has been in service for almost six decades.
    Goa Embarks On EU Exchange Program To Promote Culture
     
      Goa expects to get wide exposure as the result of a European Union program, under which six Goans will travel to Liverpool and South Africa, as part of an exchange program to promote culture. The EU-funded program is for three years, said Nikhil Desai, Managing Director, Goa Tourism Development Corporation in New Delhi.
    Uttar Pradesh Government Accords Industry Status To Tourism
     
      Uttar Pradesh Government has accepted the long standing demand of the tourism and hospitality industry in the state and decided to accord the sector Industry Status in the State. According to industry sources, the State Cabinet while approving the New Tourism Policy of the State for 2016, has decided to accord the tourism sector Industry status.
    Brand New Logo For Rajasthan Tourism
     
      Rajasthan Tourism board has launched a brand new logo, a fresh website, and an entirely different URL (tourism.rajasthan.gov.in) for their official portal. One of the major messages that this campaign is trying to send out to is that the state of Rajasthan is an ideal travel destination for any time of the year. Besides, it is also trying to spread awareness about the lesser-known destinations of the state.
